Original review: Aug. 6, 2018 GE 14000-BTU window air conditioner - When it got installed in my window, the next morning when I turned it on, it blew my breaker.

The model number will give us other information. For example, the 080 in the furnace model number does tell us that it is 80,000 BTUs. In the A/C model number, the 24 tells us that it is a 2-ton unit. FYI, one ton is 12, two tons is 24, three tons is 36, etc. Buy GE 8K BTU Window Air Conditioner with Remote at Walmart.com. Even though my wattage is as it requires, this happened two days in a row. I had to hire someone to up my ampage 5 watts. Still, so it won't make my lights flicker, I unplug most things in my place, and turn it on on low and energy saver and slowly plug things in and turn things on.

Even then, when the compressor comes on and surges, the lights sometime flicker. Very nerve racking to deal with all day. Original review: July 13, 2018 I'm just so upset with this GE product. I purchased a GE 12000 BTU (AEL12AVH1) air conditioner summer of 2016 from Home Depot, it worked fabulously for summer of 2016 and summer 2017. Turn on the AC unit on the first hot days of summer 2018, the fan blows and the compressor comes on but no cold air comes out.

Called for repairs, he said it would cost more to fix it than its worth. He said there's a leak and no coolant is in there. I'm crushed as I paid good money for this unit and it still looks brand new. I will never buy a GE product ever again.

Original review: July 12, 2017 Designed by idiots. This piece of junk (GE AEL10AV) is designed to fall out of your window.

It cannot be safely installed in a standard American double hung wooden window. Like Andersen 400 series. The unit is designed for metal framed windows.

A wooden sash will not fit in the undersized channel of the top rail of the unit. DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT!!! It is a disaster and customer service won't admit it. Even GE's own service techs admit it is not designed for an American wooden window.

Save your money. Original review: June 6, 2017 I just wanted everyone to be aware of the window unit air conditioners sold at Home Depot! I bought a 800 btu window unit for a 200 sq/ft room at Home Depot that cost me $430.00 dollars and only lasted me 2 years or in reality just 2 summers or just 6 months.

I live in Minneapolis, MN, so our summers are usually just 3 months long. My warranty was just one year, so I had to pay to have it looked at (100.00 dollars). The technician told me that my compressor was shot, and I asked how could that be? He said that it is quite common for GE a/c units to go bad after 2 years, even though I bought it brand new at Home Depot!

GE told me that I was out of luck! Thus, I just wanted to warn all consumers to watch out for GE A/C units. I will never ever buy another GE product! Sincerely disappointed GE customer. Original review: Dec. 8, 2016 Has made mine and my dogs live. Easy to deal with.

Not many shade trees here so full sun all the time. I also love to cook so it helps with the oven being on as well. Never has been any problem. Cools my house down really fast and keeps me and my dog from roasting in the hot summer. Well it's a normal nice looking wall air conditioner with buttons, some knobs and slats for the air to get through.

They all pretty much look the same but the quality is good and sturdy. It never fail me. It's a workhorse and I'm happy it has never been a problem. A little noise but not a lot.

Original review: Nov. 29, 2016 I like the make of these air conditioners. They cool very well and save energy. I always have I set at 70 always. Does require a lot of cleaning of the filters. The performance is awesome.

It cools very well in my house set at 70 degrees. I currently have three window units in my house. They save you a lot of energy. The only thing is the filters do dirty real quick if you're in a rural area. The appearance is good. It all depends on what you are looking for. Although it would be nice if they would start making the air conditioners in darker colors because white gets dirty too easily.

The reliability of the air conditioner is awesome. Like I stated before it cools very well. I have three of them in my home and currently just use one to keep my home cool at 100 degrees outside so it's very reliable. Original review: Nov. 26, 2016 The unit was in line with others on the market. It worked well for many, many years. I would purchase another if I were in the market for a new a/c.

No major repairs were needed. We just needed to add Freon from time to time. It was energy efficient for the time. Plus it was not as noisy as some other units. It looked like an a/c unit.

They generally are not the most attractive machines. There was some shrubbery around it which hid it and muffled noise. It kept us cool for many summers.

25, 2016 This air conditioner has been such a valuable part of our daily life in the summer months here in Maine. We use it in our main rooms to keep cool and it works great. This air conditioner performs very well for our family. We have had it now for 3 seasons and it has not failed us yet. It cools our room very fast and then we are able to put it on fan mode to maintain the coolness. The appearance of this air conditioner is nice enough. It is white and is not too bulky.

It worked very well in an extremely warm room upstairs and there was not even much of a jump in our electric bill. Each time we turned it on it did not take long to cool down our very large bedroom. It was a very modern looking unit and when the drapes were closed in the room that it was in you could not even tell that it was there (that is - when the GE air conditioning unit was shut off). Each and every time that we turned our unit on it would cool down our large bedroom very quickly. It was also a very quiet unit and even if my little baby granddaughter came to visit, it did not wake her.

Original review: Nov. 13, 2016 It was cheaper than a lot of brands and worked for more years. It wasn't the cheapest brand but it definitely had better quality than the cheapest brand. Stayed cool for 6 years before it needed to have more coolant put in it.

After year six we moved though and left it for the next renters. It was a good air conditioner though. I liked the digital temperature and numbers on the air conditioner, and I certainly liked having the remote with it. The remote was very convenient. I never had a problem with the air conditioner until year six. It always worked just fine every time we turned it on and it blew cool air.

Gets nice and cold. Some days I need a blanket but it sure feels good on days when the temperature is so hot outside to come into the cold air. Normal color would be nice in color choices but takes up a small space. Is what you expect in a air conditioner. Doesn't stand out or too bulky.

Nothing fancy just a little white box sitting in the window. I had a friend take plywood and build a frame around the air conditioner to keep the weather and heat out. Had to build a stand for it too. I never doubted its performance once. I could come home after being gone all day or even after being gone several days and I knew I could just turn it on.
